High-Impact Glass Façade Branding

The University of Derby commissioned us to display their logo and signature slogan “Make it Happen” on the upper glass façade of their newly completed, copper-clad building in the heart of Derby city centre. The aim was to create a bold, visible statement from a distance that aligned with the University’s energetic and aspirational identity.

the challenge.

The project required a solution that was visually impactful, long-lasting, yet fully removable - preserving the integrity of the building for future adaptations. The installation location posed additional complexity: a tall façade on a major street in one of the busiest areas of the city, with very limited working space due to lamp posts and urban infrastructure.

the solution.

We proposed and installed large-format, removable cut vinyl graphics that would provide a strong visual impact while remaining flexible for future removal. The installation process was a logistical feat:

• A cherry picker was carefully maneuvered between street furniture and the building frontage.
• A full lane of traffic was temporarily closed off in the early hours of a Sunday morning to ensure the highest safety standards and to minimise disruption to city centre traffic.
• Our team executed the installation efficiently and professionally under tight conditions and time constraints.

To amplify the project’s visibility, we documented the entire installation using drone footage and produced a short promotional video. This served not only to highlight the craftsmanship and complexity of the work but also to showcase our collaboration with the University.

The final result is a striking, high-level branding statement that enhances the building’s architectural presence and reinforces the University of Derby’s messaging. The project was delivered safely, on time, and in a way that highlighted our technical capabilities, attention to detail, and ability to work around urban logistical challenges. The promotional video added an extra layer of value - demonstrating how we and the University quite literally “made it happen” together.
